Devon Gilfillian

In bustling Music City, where musicians bare their heart and soul on stages nearly every night, “you really have to make a lot of unique noise to get people’s attention,” says young singer/songwriter Devon Gilfillian. Inspired by R&B and hip-hop, Devon is on a mission to bring a melting pot of “psychedelic soul rock ‘n’ roll” to Nashville with his blue collar sensibility and his love of the funk.

As he’s matured his craft, he’s grown more and more comfortable with expressing himself as a songwriter. That means drawing upon lessons learned, both the good and the sometimes uncomfortable. On this episode of Sounds of the Road, presented by Toyota and SiriusXM, join us on a tour through East Nashville, where Devon hits up Fatback Sound, does a little gear shopping at Eastside Music Supply, and performs live versions of “The Good Life” and “Here & Now” for an intimate crowd at Dee’s Cocktail Lounge.

Welcome to Nashville! Season 2 of Sounds of the Road features Madison Cunningham, Devon Gilfillian and trio The Lone Bellow exploring Music City in new Toyota vehicles, stopping at iconic spots across the city to perform intimate live sessions and talk about their connection to music and life on the road.
