ABC and Kelly Slater Create The Ultimate Surfer Competition
The new series debuts on August 23 and 24 with a stacked cast of talented up-and-coming surfers.
If you’re a part of our @Surfers community on Instagram, you know how passionate we are about celebrating the quest for the perfect wave, so naturally we’re amped about this new series dropping in on ABC this August. The Ultimate Surfer features 14 of the world’s greatest up-and-coming surfers competing for a chance to land a spot in the World Surf League’s coveted Championship Tour. Created by surf legend Kelly Slater and filmed at his famous Surf Ranch in Lemoore, California, the series will feature individual and team challenges focused on specific surfing disciplines, resulting in weekly eliminations that will leave one male and one female crowned as The Ultimate Surfer. The list reads like a who’s who of the surf world: Anastasia Ashley (Miami Beach, FL), Kai Barger (Haiku, HI), Mason Barnes (Venice, CA), Tia Blanco (Oceanside, CA), Austin Clouse (Jacksonville Beach, FL), Brianna Cope (Koloa, HI), Luke Davis (LA, CA), Kayla Durden (Jacksonville Beach, FL), Juli Hernandez (Costa Mesa, CA), Zeke Lau (Honolulu, HI), Alejandro Moreda (San Juan, PR), Koa Smith (Sunset Beach, HI), Malia Ward (San Clemente, CA), and Bruna Zaun (Redondo Beach, CA).
You can watch ABC’s The Ultimate Surfer on its two-night premiere on Monday, 8/23 at 10/9c. Check the trailer for a sneak peek!
