Echosmith

If you’re looking for an earworm, the SoCal siblings behind Echosmith will deliver. Vocalist and keys player Sydney Sierota and her brothers Noah (bass, vocals, production) and Graham (drums) have honed in on a joyful indie-pop sound that will be stuck in your head for days. And with nearly two decades of band life under their belt (alongside a lifetime of being siblings), it’s safe to say they’ve mastered the delicate art of working, creating, and touring together.

“Letting the music come to life in the live setting is cool for us as musicians,” Sydney says. “You get to take all the inspiration you got on the road into your songwriting, so it’s been exciting to see what I come up with.”

Beyond the creative inspiration they get from touring and playing live, the trio acknowledges a powerful emotional benefit that comes along with it. “Touring brings us closer to the heart of our fans. On stage, I’m getting to make eye contact with as many people as possible, but after the show, that’s where we have the most special moments,” Sydney says. “Getting that face-to-face interaction gives us so much joy and gratitude because we wouldn’t get to play a stage anywhere if they weren’t there.”

After exploring San Diego’s coastline in the Toyota bZ4X, the trio heads to the long-running Winstons Beach Club in Ocean Beach for an intimate live performance of “Hindsight” and “Sour,” along with some quality time with their fans.

“Now we’re hitting 18 years of being a band. We’ve all changed so much, but I would say for the better,” Sydney notes. “I’m really grateful that I get to do this, and I get to do it with people I love. Hopefully we get to just keep growing up together on the road.”

Sounds of the Road features intimate musical performances and interviews with some of the country’s most exciting new artists. In Season 5, we hit the iconic beach town of San Diego with singer-songwriter Jake Scott, joyful indie-pop trio Echosmith, and bluesy rockers The Record Company.
